Our Koala encounter became a great learning experience for our children!

Scally taking refuge in our Mt Gravatt tree

Earlier this year our Mt Gravatt team were central to the rescue of a Koala who had been hit by a car on Klumpp Rd. After it took refuge in a tree outside the Centre, Jessica and the team could see that it would need some extra care to recover. The rescue team was called and the children who were already about to head on a bush walk got to see the koala and.

The Children and Educators were then thrilled to learn the “Scally” the Koala (named after the old Centre name) had made a full recovery and would be released back into the wild. The rescue team even brought him back to the Centre to say thank you to the children who got to see him prior to release!

Jessica, our Centre Director, was interviewed by the ABC. You can listen to the first instalment here and the follow up on his recovery and release here!
